About the Cutchens
The primary mission of the Cutchen family is to use their music and creative
communication to help adults, teenagers and children find a common ground to
celebrate God’s works and character and to worship Jesus Christ. The Cutchens
love being with children. They love being with teens. They love being with
adults.
But their deepest delight is when people experience the joy of the Lord and a
deeper commitment to Christ… together! (Psalm 148:11,12)
Dan Cutchen is an exciting performer who blends music and drama, both
humorous and serious, to present stories from the Bible and other sources. He
also utilizes rock, pop, folk, jazz and classical music to entertain audiences
that range from preschool to retirement homes. His use of synthesizer, acoustic
and electric guitars enhance his original musical dramas and compositions-which
cover an impressive array of musical styles.
When Dan performs his wackiness, it's....well, it's wacky. You will see
famous and interesting stories acted out. Animals and strange
creatures are made out of balloons. You'll find yourself singing silly songs. A
cat named Ralph, who unfortunately looks like a chicken (But he's a
short-haired cat!!), usually shows up. He makes things disappear and
reappear, he gets people to do silly things, he jiggles while he juggles, he
goofs up and he performs optical illusions! He's a lot FUN!
Dan has been in music all his life. He has produced or co-produced over 50
full-scale and demo music projects-LP’s, cassettes and compact discs-for both
secular and sacred musicians.
His experience as a composer and arranger is varied and extensive. He has
written for concert band, wind ensemble, string quartet, chorus/choir, jazz
band, brass choir, studio charts and other small and large scale music
productions. As a composer, musician, and worship leader, Dan has sought to use
his talents and training to bring attention to hope of mankind-Jesus Christ.
Dan holds a B.A and a Master's degree in Music Composition while Joy has a
B.A. in Christian Education. Together, they utilize their training and skills to
write original music, musical dramas, pantomime and dramatic sketches.
Dan also presents seminars to help teachers and entertainers be as creative
as possible in communicating with others. Their ministry, Future Hope
Ministries, offers different workshops in creative communication.
In addition to utilizing the medium of music and drama, Dan also has had an
effective ministry in the preaching of God's Word. Prior to full-time ministry
with Future Hope, Dan served six churches in fifteen years in the areas of
Minister of Music, Minister of Youth/Christian Education, Associate Pastor and
Senior Pastor. Dan is an ordained minister through the Southern Baptist
Convention and is committed to the study and proclamation of God's
Word.
Dan also serves as an adjunct professor of music theory and composition at Dallas Baptist University.
